Desirae Carroll

President

Desirae has been organizing events and volunteering in shelters for over six years and has been a dedicated volunteer with TLC since 2012 after her employer selected TLC as their primary beneficiary of the “Rescue Run 5K.”  Desirae has put her marketing degree to work for TLC; she has been a driving force in fundraising.  Her creative ideas, organizational skills, and vibrant personality have inspired the entire TLC team.  Desirae has now taken on the role of President and will lead TLC further.  She has six dogs and one cat at home, and her favorite thing about TLC is “seeing all the amazing animals get homes and raising money to help more of them.”

Gayle Gannaway

Vice President // Buildings

Gayle has been involved in animal causes for 15 years and joined TLC as a volunteer in 2010.  With over 20 years of experience in finance, accounting and IT; Gayle served as TLC treasurer for several years.  She has provided invaluable guidance to the business aspect of TLC.  She now has taken the role of Vice President & Buildings Manager.  Gayle has three dogs and three cats and is very proud to be a part of TLC.  She is grateful for the generosity of the community and the volunteers that make the work of TLC possible.

Susan Russell

Treasurer

After retiring from the corporate world as an accounting and administrative manager, Susan began volunteering at TLC in early 2012 and was soon elected Secretary. Her communication and organizational skills are a great asset to TLC's growth and development. She is known as the "cat lady" and spends much of her time at the shelter socializing the cats and kittens. There are three senior cats at home and well as her husband's infamous dogs Goose and Gadget.

Esther Morgan-Ellis

Secretary

Esther has been involved with TLC for four years and serves as Adoption Events Coordinator. She teaches music history at the University of North Georgia and directs the orchestra. Her life has been great since she adopted her best friend Trigger from TLC in April 2016.

Courtney Chandler

Board Member

Courtney is one of our newest board members. She is a pet nurse at Red Barn Veterinary Hospital. She enjoys spending her free time with her fur babies and volunteering at TLC. Courtney is always willing to take on bottle-feeding puppies and kittens which is a 24/7 task. She currently has four dogs and one cat, all of whom are rescues. Courtney’s goal is to become a registered Veterinary Technician, and eventually start her own Pit Bull rescue.

MaryTess Syfan

MaryTess is one of our newest board members! She is a substitute teacher working towards becoming a full-time teacher. When it’s a beautiful day out, MaryTess can be found at any dog park with her dog Stella, whom she adopted from TLC while she was at the University of North Georgia. MaryTess hopes to bring fun new fundraising ideas and make a positive impact on the community.
